Tip Goals 101

As a creator, you might need an extra financial boost to achieve a specific goal or actualize a fun idea.

Tip goals are a way to crowdsource funds towards that goal, functioning as both a call-to-action and a way to let your community support your content creation.

How do I set up a tip goal?

1. Before you get started, verify that you are an unrestricted creator. Tips are a restricted feature, which means that you need to have at least five fans in your Fanhouse to unlock this feature. If you feel like you need this restriction lifted sooner, email us at hello@fanhouse.app.

2. On your private feed, press the + button to create a new post and click on the $ icon to open up the tip goal menu.

   

3. Add a description and an image to let your fans know what you’re fundraising for. Add the amount of money you’re trying to raise and a deadline.

4. Click Post.

   

What happens after I post?

Now you wait! We encourage pinning the post on your Fanhouse and sharing this goal on your other social media platforms.

You’ll be able to see your fans’ tips and comments as they trickle in.

What do my fans see?

Your fans can see how much money has been raised for the tip goal, the number of tips you’ve received, and how many days are left.

What happens I meet my tip goal?

You did it! Don’t forget to thank your fans. They’ll probably appreciate a personalized message from you! You can see which of your fans contributed underneath the tip goal.

Q: My fans say that they can’t tip me. What’s going on?

Q: What kind of things should I post as a tip goal?

A: The tip goal feature lends itself really well to big financial milestones that would be too much for one fan to cover but attainable for a group of fans to cover.

Some of our favorite tip goals are fundraising efforts for things that benefit the whole community, such as:

• A new mic/webcam for my stream
• A high quality cosplay for my Fanhouse
• Flights for TwitchCon where I’ll be able to meet my fans

Q: Will I receive the tips incrementally or as a lump sum?

A: You will receive the tips incrementally. If a fan contributes $5, then $5 will automatically get added to your earnings.
